Looking for Signs of Winter

Last Thursday we explored the wooded area near our playground with a naturalist from the Audubon searching for signs of winter! The children shared their background knowledge about animals in wintertime. We had interesting, insightful discussions about migration and hibernation, as well as how other animals survive during the cold winter months and what kinds of food they eat when food gets scarce. We also found evidence of animals eating acorns and bark, and we found some animal tracks in the snow! So much learning on our Science exploration! You might want to ask your child to tell you about our walk in the woods and what they learned. Special thanks to members of TESPTO for funding this Science program.
